Who Are the Fastest Football Players?
Ball control skills, shot power and accuracy, free kick and corner taking skills, passing, what else is there? Speed, of course. Every defender’s nightmare is having a lightning fast striker on the opposite team.
Many football fans may not have thought of this, but being unable to physically catch up with another player’s speed could bring you a lot of trouble. Some football players joined the club of the world’s best athletes. And so, they went on to become the fastest football players of all time.
Kylian Mbappe
The Frenchman has hit the unbelievable record with the top speed level of 38 km/h. Everyone knows Mbappe for his incredibly fast sprints on the pitch. Even if we don’t take the accelerometer test into account, the mere fact that this player is one of the best attackers in the world shows us how his enormous speed contributes to his success.
Kyle Walker
Not many would think that a defender could be so fast. But Kyle Walker is. He’s actually one of the fastest players in football history who plays in this position. In the Premier League, there is no defender who is currently faster than him.
So, the next time you think that strikers are the only ones to resemble Usain Bolt, think of Walker as the one who can catch them.
Antonio Rudiger
Although the German is in his early thirties, he appeared on the radar as one of the fastest football players. Just like Kyle Walker, Rudiger’s speed tests show his Marvel’s Flash-like competitiveness.
Some experts even think that Rudiger’s ability to develop such high-speed levels deserves even more attention than Walker’s. This is because Antonio Rudiger is around a dozen centimetres taller than Walker.
Mykhailo Mudryk
A young and very talented midfielder, Mudryk, is regarded as one of the fastest football players in the Premier League. Ever since his transfer to Chelsea was completed, the Ukranian’s performance has been going up.
Needless to say, one of Mudryk’s trademarks is his amazing acceleration and top speed. Playing in the midfield, Mudryk’s speed is multifunctional. In other words, he can either be at the heels of the other team’s attacker or be the fast striker himself.
Ronaldo Nazario
Arguably one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo Nazario just so happens to be one of the fastest footballers in history. The unstoppable Brazilian attacker who broke and still holds numerous records in this sport was not only the deadliest goal predator but the uncatchable Roadrunner for the hungry Coyote defenders.
The peak in Nazario’s career was in the late 90s and early 2000s. Without an official record, some info points out that Ronaldo’s speed is somewhere around 36 kilometres per hour.
With some of his colleagues at that time, such as Thierry Henry, Claudio Caniggia, and other players who deserved a mention here, Nazario left a mark on football in many respects. Hardly anyone else will ever surpass it.
