Premier League Transfer Deadline Day Roundup

By on February 7, 2024 0 134Views

The Premier League January transfer window has closed, with some interesting deals going through at the last second. However, we were not treated to some bangers as we were a few years ago, as teams were reluctant to splash in the cash to strengthen their squads.

The football transfer deadline day deals that we got this term are not as near as Enzo Fernandez’s record-breaking move from last year. No major most expensive transfers were added this year.

Nevertheless, the EPL teams have decided to spend wisely and much more conservatively this season. The stronger clubs mainly offloaded unwanted players. While the weaker ones used the last day Premier League transfers to bring in some much needed help.

Here is our take on the Premier League transfer deadline day roundup as we highlight the most important deals.

Armando Broja (Chelsea – Fulham)

Chelsea have finally decided to move some of its assets and the one that garnered the most interest was Armando Broja. However, instead of making a complete move the Albanian striker will join the Cottagers on loan.

The deal went through at the very end of the loan transfer deadline, allowing Fulham to strengthen their attack. Marco Silva will now have another viable scoring option at the front, with Raul Jimenez being the only viable choice so far.

Transfer Deadline Day Roundup

Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City – West Ham United)

This one came a bit earlier as Pep Guardiola finally admitted that he can’t play Kalvin Phillips in his system. So, the Citizens decided that a loan move to  West Ham was the best possible choice for him. Where he should assume the Declan Rice role.

Phillips’ move is not only a chance for him to revive his career. It also represents a way for the Hammers to earn a European spot. He slides in really well alongside James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta. He may provide cover for them as they are free to exercise their creativity in the attack.

Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund – Nottingham Forest)

The talented US international is switching from the Bundesliga to the Premier League. In the midst of Jaydon Sancho making a return to the Westfalen stadium, there is even less room for Reyna to play. He has been in and out of the lineup for a few years now. But it was mostly due to injuries.

Now, he has a chance to thrive in the Tricky Trees’ attack alongside Morgan Gibbs-White. We will see if it turns out to be one of the best moves among all of the Premier League transfer deadline day deals.

Football Transfer Deadline Day Deals

Radu Dragusin (Genoa – Tottenham Hotspur)

The Romanian defender was seen as one of the most talented sweepers in Europe. He has even earned comparisons with Virgil Van Dijk. Earlier in the transfer window, he was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, and even Arsenal. Nevertheless, he decided for a move to the North side of London instead.

Tottenham already have an established backline, but Dragusin can bring even more strength and security. This could even allow them to switch to a 3-5-2. Dragusin could pair well alongside Romero and van de Ven in a back-three formation.

Enes Unal (Getafe – Bournemouth)

Among all premier league deadline day transfers, this one went a little bit under the radar. The Cherries will strengthen their attack with one of the best La Liga strikers. Unal has scored in double digits in Spain for the past two years. However, having played only three games this year and being overshadowed by Borja Mayoral and Mason Greenwood in the attack meant it was time for a move.

He has a chance to thrive in Andoni Iraola’s system, who knows him well back from Spain. Unal might also provide support to Dominic Solanke up front as he might be able to play alongside him and not serve only as a backup.
