Ten Hag Sack? Will the Dutch Leave Man Utd for Good?

By on November 17, 2023 0 228Views

After the most recent debacle suffered at the hands of FC Copenhagen, talks about a potential Ten Hag sack are becoming more and more apparent. No one is happy with the results the Red Devils are displaying. The fans are going through one of the worst periods of their lives. The club is still in crisis, not being able to provide positive results consistently.

Is a Ten Hag sack the right decision to make? The Dutch manager has been brought on as a saviour, but everyone is expecting instant results. Something that is apparently not realistic at the moment. Nevertheless, people are demanding changes. Erik might be the first one to go. Although we don’t think it will make much difference for Man Utd if he leaves.

Lacklustre Results in All Competitions

During the past season, Erik Ten Hag managed to get the Red Devils back in the Champions League and won the League Cup. This was a slow start but a promising one, as everyone thought that things would only get better from here.

Ten Hag Sack

Unfortunately, they haven’t. Man Utd find themselves in the 6th spot of the Premier League. They are most likely already out of the title race. More so, they are already facing elimination from the Champions League and, most likely, Europe altogether. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the unexpected loss versus FC Copenhagen by 4:3.

In the Ten Hag post-match breakdown, he admitted that they were playing really badly. It was the worst result of the season. But he was not willing to comment on anything that would prompt him to step down from the manager position.

The Premier League season is long, and there is still room for Man Utd to get better. However, elimination from Europe so early is a mark on Manchester United Erik Ten Hag tenure.

Ten Hag Transfer

Transfer Hit and Misses

There were a lot of talks about the players that Ten Hag added to bolster United’s squad. Out of all Ten Hag signings this season, it seems that Rasmus Højlund is the only player to leave a mark. Although he has yet to shine in the Premier League, he has already scored five goals in four appearances in the Champions League.

As far as other players go, it has been one dud after the other. Andre Onana and Mason Mount, in particular, have been large disappointments. Onana can’t get a save to save his life, while Mount has been mostly on the mend.

The money spent on those two could have helped to strengthen the defence. The back line has been leaking goals during the entirety of the season.

Controlling the Dressing Room

Something that might lead to a Ten Hag sack is not getting along with certain players. While David de Gea left on his own accord, the Erik Ten Hag Jadon Sancho relationship seems to have soured overnight. Ten Hag simply doesn’t have the patience for Sancho anymore and has decided to bench him.

Once news broke, it all evolved into a massive drama that affected Erik’s reputation in a large sense. Ten Hag is not reluctant to bench a player who is not pulling his own weight. He will not hesitate to do it again, but it might come at the cost of tarnishing his reputation with other players.
