Golden Boot Race | Who’s Most Likely to Win This Season?
The Golden Boot is a prestigious award that goes to the best goalscorer from Europe. However, it is not as clear-cut as scoring the highest number of goals. Stronger leagues come with a higher coefficient, meaning that players from the top five leagues will rank higher than those who come from mediocre European football leagues.
Nevertheless, the Golden Boot race is heating up, with a few unexpected inclusions in the top five. Most of us have followed this season closely, placed bets on our teams with bet365 boonuskood and we might have our own opinions on who should win the Golden Boot. Most people have probably pitted the likes of Halaand or Mbappe to win. They are still there but have massive and unexpected competition.
There is still a long way to go, but here is the current landscape of the European Golden Boot race.
1. Harry Kane & Amahl Pellegrino (36 Points)
The top of the list is currently held by, expectedly, Harry Kane, and, unexpectedly, Amahl Pellegrino. After transferring to Bayern Munich, Kane has continued to do the same thing that he did in the Premier League – score a massive amount of goals. He currently has 18 goals to his name and will most likely improve until the winter break.
Sharing the number one spot with Kane is Bodø/Glimt striker Amahl Pellegrino. He has scored 24 goals to help his team win the Eliteserien. Unfortunately, the season in Norway has ended. Meaning that he will soon start dropping down the list as other European leagues continue.
2. Sehrou Guirassy (32 points)
Who says that the Bundesliga is not exciting? While Stuttgart is challenging Bayern Munich for the title, Sehrou Guirassy is challenging Kane for the honour of the best goalscorer. The striker from Guinea is having the season of his life and has already surprised his personal record by scoring 16 goals in 12 matches this season. If it weren’t for an injury he sustained recently, he could have ranked first.
3. Kylian Mbappé (30 points)
PSG may not be having the season they were expecting. They are still leading the charge in Ligue 1 but have had a few hiccups until settling down at the first spot. Much of that is owed to Kylian Mbappé, who has 15 goals in 14 appearances for the Parisiens. Mbappé still has a lot to showcase this year and has a legitimate chance to end up as a Golden Boot winner this season, as his form does not show any signs of him stopping.
4. Erling Braut Haaland & Lautaro Martínez (28 Points)
Erling Haaland is leading the Premier League Golden Boot race with ease. However, he is not scoring at a rate as the previous season, where he won his first-ever Golden Boot award. Nevertheless, 14 in the strongest league in the world is not bad. If he recovers well from the injury he has sustained recently, we will see a myriad of goals from him.
Tied with Haaland at the moment is the Serie A top scorer Lautaro Martinez. He finished second in the league last season, and currently already has 14 goals. Martinez is keeping Inter on top and if he maintains his output, he stands lifting both the title and the best scorer award as well.
