Karim Benzema Transfer Rumours: Is He Coming Back to Europe?
Many birds leave their nests before they can even fly. It seems that I could use the same metaphor for various players who weren’t prepared to leave their European clubs and go to Saudi Arabia.
Some time ago, there was a rush to the Saudi Pro League. Many players thought that it would be a good idea to change their residence. Why was that so? Well, there’s no precise answer to that.
Some footballers wanted to try something new, and others wanted to have a golden touch. While they hoped for this, a great deal of players did not consider one thing – and that’s how they will adapt to a completely new lifestyle.
As a consequence, certain players have already come back to Europe. One of the prime examples is Jordan Henderson. Lately, we have also seen some Karim Benzema transfer rumours, as the Frenchman doesn’t look satisfied with his current situation in Saudi Arabia. What hides behind this?
Where the Idea to Go to Saudi Arabia Began?
Lots of football experts regarded Benzema’s move to Saudi Arabia as one of the biggest transfers to the Saudi Pro League. The Frenchman had an unbelievable 14-year career in Real Madrid.
It was even the most recent seasons that he had a blast in. Benzema won the Champions League with Los Blancos as well as the Ballon d’Or in 2022. He then announced his departure from Madrid at the end of the season.
What Went Wrong?
The first problems appeared in a mid-season period after the 36-year-old Frenchman joined Al-Ittihad. Allegedly. Benzema felt a lot of pressure on him in this club. He had meetings with officials on this topic.
Not long after, the news about him training alone for disciplinary reasons appeared. It was only a matter of time before the Karim Benzema transfer rumours surfaced. In the wake of his turmoil, Benzema expressed his will to temporarily leave Al-Ittihad.
Karim Benzema to Arsenal, Man Utd, Newcastle, or Somewhere Else?
The destiny of the Frenchman is still unknown. At first, the media spread the news that Benzema could sign with another club in the Saudi Pro League. Some news portals even mentioned him becoming part of Al Nassr and playing with his ex-teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Yet, other rumours see Karim Benzema to Manchester United or even Arsenal. The French striker has never played in the Premier League. Also, it is really questionable how he will fit into teams like Arsenal due to the Gunners’ playing style. One more thing Benzema should be worried about is his age.
Don’t get me wrong, the French centre-forward is still netting like crazy, but the Premier League is a lot more demanding than the Saudi Pro League. Did I tell you that rumours also include the Karim Benzema to Newcastle stories?
No one knows for sure. But if I were to make guesses, I’d say that Benzema could go to his roots, i.e. Lyon. He started his career there, and Lyon is also his hometown. But let’s first see how the story will untangle and whether he will stay in Al-Ittihad or not.
